Message for the Chairman , Ken Gerber

“Coming to Shul over Rosh Hashanah / Yom Kippur?

We are looking forward to seeing as many of our members as possible over Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and the other Yomtov festivals this year. We are very lucky to have Russell Grossman coming to perform again as Chazzan over Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

We are all aware of the need for heightened security, especially at the busiest festivals, and we ask for your cooperation with this by doing three things.....

First of all, when leaving after the service, please don’t  stand around outside talking - apart from creating congestion, this would present a very easy target for anyone wanting to cause trouble.

Secondly, we are issuing (with our pre Rosh Hashanah mailing) a numbered membership card to all members who have paid membership for the current year- these have two holes in them, so as to make them acceptably portable. These cards should be presented when arriving at Shul. Please do bring your membership card with you. Those who do not have a card to show to security will at best be delayed and could be refused admission.

And finally, and very importantly, we always give a very warm and friendly welcome to out of town visitors. However, we do require that visitors be pre-registered with the Shul office, and that on arrival, they present a numbered Visitors Card (which is similar to the Membership Card including the halachically required two punches holes). We would also ask that a voluntary donation to the Shuls running and security costs be made by / for visitors, and would suggest an amount of £20 per person for sons and daughters of any age of members who are coming from out of town  and £50 per person for other out of town visitors. Please phone (0141-577-8250) or email ( to register any visitors and to discuss a voluntary donation.

Looking forward to welcoming everyone to Shul over the Yomtov period.

Ken Gerber, chairman.”
