INTERFAITH WEEK EVENT: ART AS AN EXPRESSION OF FAITH: A CONVERSATION WITH JOHN CLARK

The Council of Christians and Jews, West of Scotland Branch

For Interfaith Week, The Council of Christians and Jews is very pleased to welcome John Clark, an architectural glass artist whose work can be seen all over the world. Born in Dumbarton, Clark trained at the in School of Art. In Scotland, his work includes the award-winning Shaw Memorial Window in Paisley Abbey, St. Margaret’s Newlands, the Lockerbie Memorial Window in Lockerbie Town Hall, the University of Strathclyde, the Scottish National Piping Centre, and the Glasgow Cathedral Millennium Window. He is corning to talk to us primarily about the 22 windows commissioned for the Queen’s Park Synagogue in Glasgow in 1990 which are now re installed in Giffnock Synagogue (2005).
This is a rare opportunity to see the windows and hear the artist talk about the work. John will also discuss some of his other religiously-themed work in what promises to be a very rich and rewarding afternoon.
